Justice for Judges

The U. S. Supreme Court has followed the president’s lead in disregarding laws, including the issue of marriage. President Obama and the judges that share his delusional views have decreed that marriage is no longer what it has been since Adam and Eve.

Marriage always has been and always will be the union of one man and one woman for life. God ordained it so in Genesis 2:24 where He said, “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” Regardless of how man may try to alter this institution, a rational person knows this is true. However, since the White House has been disgraced by its current occupant and so many do his bidding, we no longer live in a rational country. It is imperative that we as a nation demand a return to truth because those running the country refuse truth and embrace lies.

If certain individuals choose to be involved in inappropriate behavior, then that is their choice, but to try to justify it and demand that others accept it as appropriate is foolish. To equate marriage with any arrangement besides one man and one woman is preposterous. In order for a society to function, especially one of self-government such as ours, then its people must be self-governed. This means doing what one should and restraining oneself from doing what ought not to be done.

There is no push for the right to steal others’ property (except through taxes or other such confiscation). There is no claim yet that adultery should be acceptable, or rape, or murder (except through abortion). Those who steal, murder, rape, or commit adultery are held in dishonor. Right is right and wrong is wrong no matter how much we may deny it. So, how can the deviant behavior of homosexuality rise to the status of the honored institution of marriage?

The “reign” of the president and judges who have overreached and overturned marriage laws needs to be abruptly ended. The way it is done is through impeachment by the House of Representatives (Article 1, Section 2 of the United States Constitution), followed by prosecution by the Senate and punishment (Article 1, Section 3). The Constitution states in Article 3, Section 1, that these judges “shall hold their offices during good behavior.” If ignoring law, decency, and good sense is good behavior, then may they remain in office and continue receiving generous salaries taken out of the tax-payers’ income. If this is not good behavior, then why are their decisions taken seriously, and why are the president’s executive orders and unlawful actions tolerated? Why are they still allowed by our Congressmen to pretend to be honorable public officials when they are no more than fools and villains?

Islam and Progressivism- The Death Connection

There is common ground that explains why the supposed defenders of the female, the presumed rescuers of the downtrodden, and the promoters of perversion steer clear of rebuking those who degrade women, convert humanitarian aid to military use, and execute homosexuals. Progressivism and Islam seem to have nothing in common, but they have one important connection that keeps those on the political left from decrying Islam, and that connection is death.

Progressives appear to promote the improvement of the human condition. Their method of operation is through expanded government control of peoples’ lives and money. They hold to whatever “truth” suits them at the time, while spurning absolute truth. They believe the lie that more money and more government will cure the ills of the world. To Progressives, truth is the source of the world’s problems and contrary to their ideology. They ignore the obvious, such as that through self-government, capitalism, and most importantly, faith in the Creator, America became the wealthiest, freest, most generous, and perhaps most protected nation on earth. Instead of keeping with these principles that have attracted millions to this country, Progressives are bent on destroying these principles and the nation built upon them. Many among the Republican Party leadership can be counted among them.

Just as truth represents life, lies represent death. The lies of Progressivism lead to the death of marriage and family, the death of infants, the death of those deemed unworthy of life, the death of freedom, and the death of America. Their fear of truth provokes them to quash opposition, just as the lies of Islam incite the cowardly behavior of men hiding their faces and themselves behind women and children; and to kill anyone whose life can be taken to promote their demented doctrine.

Islam and Progressivism both promote the death of America by “fundamentally changing America”. There is a choice. Accept truth and life. Then if God allows, return to an America of freedom, prosperity, and protection; or choose a dogma of deceit and suffer the consequences of lies, which is subjugation, ruin, and death.

Independence Day, Keep Our Flag There

As the fireworks begin to sound off and light up the night on the anniversary of our God-given national independence, know that the rockets’ red glare and the bombs bursting in air are reminding us that our flag is still there, for now; but also they are warning that what the flag stands for is fast becoming an indistinguishable remnant of a red, white, and blue piece of cloth. Truth, humility, and righteousness have been driven to the trenches by deceit, pride, and other forms of evil. The lives given by the founders of our country so that we and others might have freedom have been traded for apathy and complacency. The hardships they endured for us have been repaid with negligence in maintaining the liberty they gained by God’s grace. The gift of freedom that the God of creation handed to us through those that established the United States of America has been squandered by our selfishness and laziness.

The colonists knew that they were out of their league in their vie for freedom from British oppression, but being on the side of righteousness, they depended on the One who brings down one and exalts another. Likewise, we can know that if we ready ourselves to take back the heritage that we have allowed to be taken, that which is held captive by those who would destroy our heritage, we too can depend on the One who lifts up. We can end our days knowing that although for a time we may have relaxed and fell asleep at our posts, we have awakened with renewed vigor and faith in the faithful One, and have done what we can to set things aright.

May the fuses that are lit on Independence Day be the ones that ignite in us an explosion of resolve to honor God and those who paved the way for us to attain to such a level of comfort. As the darkness flees the brilliance of each blast, may our self-destructive tendencies give way to self-sacrifice for those who depend on us for their future. As the report from each detonation alerts our senses, may we be stirred to action in the cause of justice.

Resist Ungodly Authority

Peter and the other apostles had a choice. They could have done what the person in authority had told them to do and have avoided trouble with the “law”, or they could have obeyed God and have avoided trouble with Him. Peter and the apostles chose wisely. The high priest had commanded them not to teach in the name of Jesus, and when confronted by the priest for their disobedience to him, they answered him saying, “We ought to obey God rather than men.” (Acts 5:29)

We find ourselves facing the same choice. Do we obey God or men? Romans 13:1-2 tells us to be subject to the governing authorities, that there is no authority except from God, and that the authorities that exist are appointed by God. We are also told that whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. If we take the whole counsel of scripture however, it is clear that obedience to any authority is secondary to obedience to God. Besides the example of Peter and the apostles, we have the example of Jesus opposing those in charge of the temple by entering with a whip, driving out those who were desecrating it, pouring out their money, and turning over their tables. Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego likewise stood their ground against unrighteous government. (John 2: 15, Daniel 6: 1-10, Daniel 3: 1-30)

In the United States of America, and everywhere for that matter, God is the ultimate authority. Despite the flagrant disobedience to God by the president, many government office holders, and many citizens, our nation was founded on deference to God. This is made clear in the first two paragraphs of the Declaration of Independence, where it refers to a people’s “separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature’s God entitle them”, and the fact that all men “are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights.”

Any “law” contrary to God’s law found in the Bible is no law at all. Likewise, any “law” contrary to the Constitution is no law at all. A law contradictory to the Scriptures or to the Constitution is a non-law. Obedience to any non-law that is in violation of scripture or the Constitution is disobedience to God. Obedience to something contrary to the Bible is sin, and obedience to something contrary to the Constitution is likewise sin because as stated in Romans 13, we are to be subject to the governing authority, which in the United States is the Constitution. Therefore, the importance of understanding the Bible and the Constitution is obvious.

In the United States, under God, the people are the ultimate authority. The people, through their elected representatives, put in place the Constitution as the governing authority under the people. It is under the people because it can be changed by the people. God’s law cannot be change by the people, government officials, or anyone else. Therefore, the order of authority is God, the people, and then the Constitution. Government officials, including the president, are merely servants hired by the people to do a job. They hold their positions at the discretion of the people. While they are to be honored in their positions, they are still servants of the people under the law of God and under the law of the Constitution.

There are many non-laws that are in place because they have been allowed through the negligence of the people. Likewise, there are many lawbreakers among our lawmakers, or perhaps more accurately our non-lawmakers. They are lawbreakers because they have bypassed the Constitution and passed non-laws. There are lawbreakers in the judicial and executive branches of government as well, the most prominent being the president. He, as well as past presidents, through executive orders, has been allowed to pass non-laws simply by signature. Congress, and ultimately the people, has permitted the usurpation of the authority of the Constitution, which designates Congress to originate laws, not the president. (Article 1, Section 7 of the United States Constitution)

The most disregarded portions of the Constitution are Article 1, Section 8, which lists the powers of Congress, and the Tenth Amendment, which plainly declares that the powers not delegated to the United States (the federal government) by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people. Congress continually usurps the authority of the states and the people by taking the people’s money from the United States Treasury and distributing it in many unauthorized ways. Such unconstitutional apportionment includes that directed toward welfare programs, disaster funds, foreign aid, and other unwarranted allocations. The United States Treasury is also open to the president for his unauthorized spending of the people’s money. One out of many of his executive orders is called “Preparing the United States for the Impacts of Climate Change”, which calls for many different departments and agencies to use their funding to deal with so called climate change.

The judicial branch has gotten into the non-law act as well, such as in National Federation of Independent Business v. Sebelius, known as the Obamacare Supreme Court case. In its ruling, it allowed the Internal Revenue Service to use its resources (tax-payer dollars) to extract more money from Americans by allowing the enforcement of a “tax” on not having health insurance. A part of this non-law forces Americans to fund the killing of unborn babies which transgresses God’s law (“You shall not murder.” Exodus 20: 13) and it violates the religious freedom right spelled out in the First Amendment which states that Congress shall make no law prohibiting the free exercise of religion.

The protection of life is one of the main purposes of our government. This is made clear in the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence, which explains that governments are instituted among men to secure certain rights, one of which is life. Also, in the preamble of the Constitution, it is made known that the Constitution was ordained and established for six particular purposes: to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. Through non-laws allowing torture, dismemberment, and death to the unborn, the ones most in need of the protection of their God given rights are denied their rights.

When those in authority disobey the authority that is over them and attempt to assert illegitimate orders, their authority is not valid concerning such mandates. In this case obedience is not only unnecessary; obedience in such circumstances is unlawful since the lower authority would be regarded above the higher authority. While the lower authority may have power, such as through those being misguided by them, to inflict punishment for not submitting to their will, they are nonetheless illegal in their actions. In such cases, one is forced to choose whether to obey God or man, knowing that the right choice may not be the easy choice, but will be the better choice.

America is a Christian Nation

Nations have beginnings. America’s was with the Mayflower compact which was drawn up and signed by Pilgrims aboard the Mayflower on November 11, 1620. In this document, one of the stated purposes for the voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts of Virginia is stated as being “for the glory of God and advancements of the Christian faith”. Even earlier under the Virginia Company Charter in 1607, colonists at Jamestown, Virginia erected a cross, knelt, took communion, and made a covenant declaring, “We do hereby dedicate this land, and ourselves to reach the people within these shores with the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to raise up Godly generations after us, and with these generations take the kingdom of God to all the earth. May this Covenant of Dedication remain to all generations, as long as this earth remains, and may this land, along with England, be evangelist to the world.” Indeed, the Virginia Company Charter of 1606 assigned land rights to colonists for the stated purpose of propagating the Christian religion.

After the colonists gained their independence and selected George Washington as president, he laid the foundation for the country in his inaugural address. In his first official act, he acknowledged that every step toward independence and the form of government established was by the hand of God. Furthermore he stated that success as a nation is dependent on the blessings of God, but his blessings “can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right, which Heaven itself has ordained.” These eternal rules of order and right are of course in God’s Word, the Bible.

While our nation as a whole followed these rules of morality, justice, and righteousness, God’s hand of blessing was upon us. Consider the miraculous victories from the war for independence to World War 2, protection from foreign invasion, and unheard of prosperity as a nation. We were prosperous and protected, but we became complacent and arrogant. We apparently decided that our status was of our own doing, and as a declaration of our independence of God we expelled Him from schools and banished His rules of order and right from America. Now we are reaping an abundant harvest of violence, immorality, disease, debt, and lawlessness from the seeds of national sin.

The first step away from certain death of our country is to love God, and if there is lack of love for Him, to ask Him to help us love Him as we should. Love for God translates into obedience to God, and obedience produces blessings while disobedience produces curses. God has made it clear that He is the only God and the only way to Him is through His only son Jesus Christ. This means acknowledging that we have sinned and are worthy of eternal punishment, and then accepting that Jesus is God’s son who paid the price for our sins on the cross.

God does not “evolve” in His thinking. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. One of His rules of order and right that Washington spoke of in his address is found in Exodus 20:3, where God says, “Do not have other gods besides Me.” So while everyone is free to choose whether to believe in the gospel, we must declare as a nation that any other form of religion is a false religion and will not be honored by the only true God. Not that we kill or confiscate to root out non-Christians, but a Christian nation cannot tolerate idolatry any more than it can tolerate abortion, homosexuality, or any other sin. Therefore among religions in America, only Christianity is entitled to tax exemption, recognized as legitimate in public meetings, and otherwise protected by the First Amendment.

God’s hand of blessing and protection will be on us as a nation and individually only when we honor and obey Him. We dishonor Him and disobey Him when we individually or as a nation equate false gods and false religions with the only true God and His gospel. It is frustrating to know what needs to be done to return America to righteousness, and the task is so overwhelming that it is impossible apart from God’s power. What individuals can do in the strength, ability, wisdom and courage that God gives, is to first of all be a saint and not a sinner. Be holy because God is holy (1 Peter 1:15, 16). This seems to be another impossible task, and it is when we attempt it apart from the power of the Holy Spirit. He knows our hearts’ desires, and if we want to be holy, He will give the grace for it. Saints are not infallible. We just do not willfully sin, and praise God for His mercy and forgiveness if we do. However, He does know our intentions and He will not be mocked (Galatians 6:7). We must love God and his ways, and hate sin. If we don’t then we must ask Him to help us in this.

Second of all we can take a stand for righteousness. Don’t participate in what is evil and rebuke it when led by the Spirit to do so. We need to view sin as God views it; the ugliness and wickedness of it. Forget about going along to get along with unbelievers or people of false religions. Love them but recognize the evil of their idolatry. As nice as they may be, they are serving a false god, which is either Satan or is of Satan. We are not confronting the people themselves, although this is how it appears. We are actually confronting the evil that is manifesting in the people (Ephesians 6:12).

As we are witnessing our once free and godly nation slip away, it is now or never for us to take our stand for righteousness. We will be held accountable for our part in what we leave for our children and all those to come. 2 Samuel 23:9 and 10 tells of one of David’s warriors called Eleazar who stood his ground against the Philistines while the others fled from the battle. After fighting until he gained the victory, Eleazar was weary to the point of not being able to let go of his sword. We must never let go of the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God (Ephesians 6:17). As Galatians 6:9 exhorts us to “not get tired of doing good”, may we in the strength of the Lord stand our ground and never drop our sword.

The Pretenders

“And the woman said, ‘It was the serpent. He deceived me, and I ate’” (Genesis 3:13). Deception is still prevalent today, and it is apparent that it has been elevated to a whole new level in our country. What would have obviously been wrong and unimaginable just a short time ago is still wrong, but is now accepted and celebrated by many, and is unopposed by others.

Our country is being controlled by those who refuse truth and accept lies. There are examples aplenty, such as the lie that we can continue indefinitely to spend more money than we have. There is the delusion that we can let anyone into our country and still be safe and prosperous. Another falsehood is that anyone can be whatever sex they want to be at any given time, or can be in a marriage relationship no matter what the actual and obvious sex of those involved. Some make believe that they can be any race they choose. Still another fabrication is that the most adherent followers of Islam are rational and peaceful.

Nonsense masquerades as common sense. Birds of different feathers are forced together in schools and in the military, then those who have done the forcing wonder why problems arise. The president, Congress, and the Supreme Court twist and ignore laws to accrue power and advance agendas. The timeless and beneficial laws of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are exchanged for the temporal and detrimental laws of me, myself and I.

We have become a nation of pretenders. While we are pretending, we can pretend that there won’t be any consequences for our deliberate self-deception, and while we, our children and our grandchildren are suffering the consequences, we can pretend that we are not.
